In an award-winning and groundbreaking study, psychologists Christopher Chabris and Daniel Simons asked volunteers to watch a 60-second film of a group of students playing basketball and told them to count the number of passes made. About halfway through, a woman dressed head to toe in a gorilla outfit slowly moved to centre screen, beat her chest at the camera, and casually strolled away. Het lezen meer dan waard
Geschreven bij The Invisible Gorilla
Dit boek vond ik echt uitzonderlijk goed. Het laat aan de hand van vele onderzoeken zien hoe eenvoudig wij de fout in kunnen gaan. Als het goed is maakt dit boek je juist minder zeker, en als je het boek eenmaal hebt gelezen dan begrijp je waarom dat juist goed is. En wie weet, stop je ook met bellen/appen terwijl je achter het stuur zit, dat is iets dat ik al voor dat ik dit boek las deed, maar het boek heeft mij wel duidelijk gemaakt waarom mensen denken dat zij het wel kunnen. Dat komt door de feedback loop, onverwachte situaties, waarbij snel aandacht nodig is, komen niet zo vaak voor, daardoor lijkt er feedback te zijn dat we het wel kunnen, terwijl de realiteit anders is. Ik zou zeggen lees het boek, er staat nog zoveel meer interessants in.
