Als je al niet depressief was, dan wordt je het zeker na het lezen van dit boek: op zo'n manier wil je zeker niet uit de kast komen. Matthew Todd wijdt driekwart van zijn boek aan het aanhalen van onderzoeken waaruit blijkt dat de LHBTI+ gemeenschap depressief is, de meeste zelfmoorden pleegt en vaak aan de drugs gaat. Daarnaast laat hij het niet na om constant aan te geven wat hij als voormalig hoofdredacteur van Attitude (groot gay blad in de UK) voor de homogemeenschap heeft gedaan. Pas aan het eind komt hij met wat slappe oplossingen, die hij uit het boek The Velvet Rage van Alan Downs heeft gehaald (waar hij constant leentje buur bij speelt) en van het 12-stappen programma van Alcoholics Anonymous. Advies: lees dit boek niet maar het origineel: The Velvet Rage. Dat boek geeft veel meer context, is diepgaander en biedt echte handvaten.
