Min Jin Lee (1968) schreef al tijdens haar studie aan Yale College en ontving verschillende prijzen voor haar fictie en non-fictie. Ze woonde enkele jaren in Tokio, waar ze research deed voor Pachinko. Haar debuutroman Han was een bestseller in Amerika en Pachinko verscheen op verschillende longlists, waaronder die van de National Book Award.
