Dit boek is een goed geschreven en spannend boek over Matthew Hervey, een kapitein bij het regiment de 6th Light Dragoons. Het geeft een goed en historisch beeld over hoe de engelse samenleving in die tijd in elkaar steekt. Bij gebrek aan "echte" politie moeten militairen de orde proberen te handhaven in die tijd van interne spanningen in Engeland. Je moet wel een behoorlijke beheersing van het engels hebben aangezien de schrijver een bloemrijk engels schrijft en ook veel vaktermen van de cavalerie gebruikt. Mijn advies is om de hele serie vanaf het eerste boek te kopen, want je zult ze zeker allemaal willen lezen !
